Our glass silvering

Our silvering process is entirely manual, is done according to the traditional technique employing pure silver and a combination of the chemical elements that has been refined by our family. The process is respectful of the natural chemical reactions and the time needed for the silver to settle. Quantities and chemical agents are wisely chosen not only according to the desired outcome but also to their characteristics and the external conditions that affect the processes.

We silver flat, curved, hollow, fused and brick glass. The mirroring effect is obtained by coating the glass item with silver, make it react and settle, so that on the opposite side the mirroring effect is produced.

Our silvering might be adapted to internal (e.g. furnishing) or external (e.g. outdoor decorations, but also concentrated solar power mirrors) use. We might silver transparent as well as colored glass, and we might add a copper tone finish.

Silvering might be combined with other workings, such as sandblasting, decoration with vitrescent paints, serigraphy or engraving. It might be customised with decorations, wordings, symbols, stylized drawings, using several techniques.

Our antiqued mirror

Antiqued effect silvering is the silvering done in such a way as to reproduce on glass an ageing effect, in order to obtain antiqued mirror: glass is darker and less reflective in correspondence of the spots.

This typo of processing is used both to meet the taste of customers who desire a vintage item or style, and to restore items that over time have modified their transparency and mirror quality.

SEVAL has refined its own technique for antiquing glass, of which some tasters are given in the gallery below, and that might produce a weak, medium or high intensity antiquing as well as a static or wavy effect.

We might apply this type of silvering both on flat, curved, hollow and fused glass.

Our glass sandblasting

Sandblasting is a technique consisting in glass surface abrasion through an air and sand jet to decorate with drawings, logos and chiaroscuro tones glass items such as vases, mirrors, or panels.

We might apply sandblasting in combination with silvering on flat, curved and hollow glass.

Our sandblasting might suit the need of making glass less transparent, but also of adding creative and design elements to a glass or mirrored item.

Our marble-effect glass

Our marble-effect glass is made using a technique that we have been applying for 60 years and that consists in painting glass with vitrescent paints of two or more colors.

The marble effect might be reproduced on flat glass and on some types of curved glass. It might be done in several combinations of colors of which below are just a few examples. The glass so obtained reflects slightly.

The marble-effect is adequate for flat surfaces, shelves, interiors coverings, and to both classic and modern designs.
